Monette D. BélangerMonette D. Bélanger was born in Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive, a small Québec village along the north shore of the Saint-Lawrence River.  Already then, the arts had captured her attention.  At a very young age  she studied visual arts and piano.  At the age of seven she began her studies of painting and music with the nunns at the Notre-Dame de Baie-Saint-Paul congregation.

At twelve she was a student at the pensionary and from then on the arts became the center of all her activities.  Later she will lean how to weave and how to sew.  She will also lean photography, which will help her paint landscapes.

When her three wonderful daughters became old enough to leave the nest, she decided to spend her retirement realizing her dream: to paint and to fulfill her need to master her favorite art form.

Starting as a self-taught artist, she then took painting lessons with Mrs France Bouchard, and later with Mr Richard Godbout, he will push her to her highest achievements.  She uses oil and acrylic paint along with brushes and spatulas.

She becomes a member of the Southern shore artists association in Lévis (A.A.R.S.) by taking part in the following symposiums:

  • Passion’art in 2008-2009
  • Symposium Sous-bois in 2009-2010
  • Exhibit at the Beaumont Chapel in 2010

For her, painting will always remain a passion…
